Melody sang well the alto part of a choral arrangement of Summertime, the choice was she isn’t a soloist, unfortunately to an untrained ear and someone without college level training, it sounds awful and rightly so, as the script calls for the singing to be “terrible”. We struggled with how to resolve that by making a choice that any trained singer would understand, and for the untrained, they would relate to and understand both Liam’s embarrassment, Melody’s humiliation and Daphna multiple tirades with regards to whether her teachers were deaf or lazy and that she had less than no talent.
