Almost 40 years after debuting at the Santa Monica Playhouse in 1984, Cinderella is back as a part of the Summer Twilight Theatre Series. It’s the classic story of Cinderella finding her prince charming, except with many twists.

It’s refreshing and exciting to see such a beloved classic done in a new way, i.e. original songs sung by the cast as I had never heard them before. Staying up to date and in tune with current times, the show also features the use of multi-media; this also kept the attention of the many young children in the audience.

Whether it be the two Stepsisters and their antics (Graham Silbert and Joseph Perez) with their mother (Cydne Moore) or even Cinderella (Tiffany Haile) and the Prince’s (Elliot White) inability to recognize one another simply due to their costume changes, the comedy is played up and enjoyable, especially for younger children. From co-artistic directors Evelyn Rudie and Chris DeCarlo and adapted and directed by Graham Silbert, the audience is taken on a whimsical and fun journey.
